Christopher Costello ,
a 2009 Centereach High School graduate and son of Ann Pellegrino,
co-director of Bethel Hobbs Community Farm, is a courageous,
diligent, kind, and devoted young man. Chris also known as
Banana Man, forever surrounded by
his friends and family, never fails at filling them with warmth and
laughter. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Chris enjoys
assisting his mother, Ann, in her duties down at the farm. His loyal
and high-spirited demeanor even inspires his friends to join them
from time to time. Despite helping others and doing the things he
loves, he still manages to work full time. Chris has passion for
cars and through his extensive knowledge, landed a job at the
Mercedes-Benz of South Hampton.
What Happened
A short time ago,
Chris was involved in a major motor vehicle accident on his way home
from work and was air lifted to Stony Brook University Hospital.
Chris sustained a broken neck that resulted in the paralysis of his
body from the neck down and leaves him unable to breathe on his own
without the assistance of a ventilator. No person could ever be
prepared for an accident this life altering and it, undeniably,
could be the hardest struggle he will face in his lifetime. However,
Chris' determination and will to overcome this obstacle allows him to gain
strength every day. In a situation where one could easily lose hope,
Christopher’s constant faith and positive attitude leaves little doubt in our
minds that he will overcome this ordeal.
